2. COOKIES: INTRODUCTION
Cookies are small text files that websites (so-called “publishers” or “first parties”) visited by the user—or other websites or web servers (“third parties”)—place and store directly, in the case of publishers, or indirectly, through the latter, in the case of third parties, on the user’s computer or mobile device, to be subsequently retransmitted to the same sites upon the next visit.
Thanks to cookies, a website remembers the user’s actions and preferences (such as login data, selected language, font size, display settings, etc.), so they do not need to be entered again when the user returns to the site or navigates between its pages.
Cookies are generally used to perform IT authentications, monitor sessions, and store information related to the activities of users accessing a site. They may also contain a unique identification code that enables tracking of the user’s navigation within the same site for statistical or advertising purposes.
Specifically, the Controller informs that the Site uses the types of cookies set out below, in accordance with e-privacy regulations and the guidelines issued by the competent authorities, in this case the Italian Data Protection Authority (hereinafter, the “Garante”).
3. COOKIES USED BY THE SITE, PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASIS
3.1 Technical Cookies
Technical cookies are essential cookies that allow the transmission of communications over an electronic communications network or are strictly necessary to provide an information society service explicitly requested by the user.
Without such cookies, browsing the Site and some user-requested operations would not be possible or would be less secure.
These cookies enable essential functions, such as session management, navigation customisation (e.g., choice of browsing language and/or currency), and fraud prevention.
Given the purposes for which technical cookies are used, storing them on the user’s device does not require prior consent, pursuant to Article 122 of Legislative Decree No. 196/2003 (“Privacy Code”) and Article 5 of Directive 2002/58/EC (the “e-Privacy Directive”).
Disabling them will make it impossible to properly browse the Site and/or use the services, pages, features, or content available on it.
3.2 Analytical Cookies
Analytical cookies are used to assess the effectiveness of a website and to help measure its “traffic”, i.e. the number of visitors, possibly broken down by geographical area, connection time slot, or other characteristics.
They are used to generate aggregated statistics for internal research purposes regarding the number of users and how they visit the website.
According to the Garante’s “Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools” published on 10 July 2021, analytical cookies are comparable to technical cookies and can therefore be used without obtaining the user’s consent only if:
-
they are used by the publisher (“first-party analytical cookies”) to perform purely statistical analysis, even if covering multiple domains, websites, or apps, provided that these belong to the same publisher;
-
they are used by third parties providing the publisher with web measurement services, provided that:
-
they are used solely to produce aggregate statistics related to a single site or mobile app;
-
at least the fourth component of the IP address is masked;
-
the third parties refrain from combining the analytical cookies, even in minimised form, with other data (e.g. customer files or statistics from other sites) and/or from transmitting them to additional third parties, except when producing statistics involving multiple domains, websites, or apps belonging to the same publisher or business group.
-
If analytical cookies do not meet these conditions, they are treated as profiling cookies, and their use requires the prior consent of the user.
Notwithstanding the above, the Site uses analytical cookies which, given their characteristics, are equivalent to technical cookies.
3.3 Profiling Cookies
Profiling cookies are used to associate specific actions or recurring behavioural patterns observed while using a website’s functions with identified or identifiable individuals, for the purpose of grouping users into homogeneous clusters.
This allows, among other things, for personalised service delivery beyond what is strictly necessary to provide the service itself, as well as the sending of targeted advertising messages aligned with the user’s browsing preferences.
Due to their characteristics, these cookies may only be installed on the user’s device with their prior consent, as required by Article 122 of the Privacy Code and Article 5 of Directive 2002/58/EC (the “e-Privacy Directive”).
Consent is not mandatory, and refusal will not result in any negative consequence for the user nor prevent navigation on the Site.
Profiling cookies can be accepted or refused directly via the banner displayed upon first access to the Site, or subsequently, at any time, through the dedicated link in the Site’s footer.
Through this banner, the user can manage cookies granularly and/or by category.
The Site does not use profiling cookies.
Notwithstanding the above, the Controller informs users that cookie preferences may also be managed through the browser settings on their device.
These preferences will take effect from the next visit to the Site after modification.

If the user uses different devices (e.g., smartphones or tablets), cookie removal should follow the device’s manual instructions.
As noted, blocking all cookies may impair or prevent proper functioning of the Site, as some cookies are strictly necessary for navigation.
